As I start an entirely new venture with my art. I have to say collecting the found objects and meeting people along the way is half the fun. For the journey I wanted to get as many newspapers that were read by local Doylestown residents as possible. Everything has to mean something to me that goes into my art. I have finally morphed my love of sculpture, collage, painting and fine art into each piece I create. My first creation in my new series will be a self portrait which incorporates two past loves, Maddie and Denbigh (Pembroke Corgis). Other than producing art in one form or another, and riding horses, my favorite pastime was going on hikes with my two dogs in remote locations where everything was peaceful and amazing. Our adventures incorporated exercise, mental clarity and the freedom to think outside myself.

Other than preserving my memories of my past adventures with my two sidekicks I wanted to honor my biggest inspiration in my early art career. Chuck Close has been an inspiration to me since I discovered him in college. I have never been a fan of really abstract work but sometimes the details in highly realistic painters was too perfect and left less for my imagination to explore. When I found Chuck Close I knew I had found what I loved most. A very abstract creation that up close looked like nothing recognizable and from far away it became an intricately detailed realistic work of art. This self portrait is a labor of love on many fronts and is a tribute to Chuck Close’s influence on me since the early years. I will post progress here as the project comes to fruition. Fingers Crossed.
