For the past 4 years I have worked on collage portraits. I loved the outcome of these and how texture and tiny ripped magazines made a really cool effect. I knew once I had done these that I would forever have it affect my work. Before doing these I either did sculpture or flat mediums such as paint and colored pencil. Once I did these I knew texture was so important to me that my work would never lack texture again. Even as I work on sculpture in three dimensions I want to keep textures at the forefront of my designs. This is where my found objects come in.
Luckily I live in an area with many antique dealers and flea markets where I can find lots of unique pieces with history to incorporate into my art. For a short time you can still see my collage works in Chestnut Hill on display. I am also going to use my love of ripped magazines in my current collection of work.
Our past affects our future but our passion drives the end result.
